Warren V. "Pete" Musser Of Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. Honored During The National MS Society's Fourth Dinner of Champions On Friday, October 13

More than 700 local business, civic and cultural leaders honored Warren V. "Pete" Musser, chairman and CEO of Safeguard Scientifics, Inc., and one of Philadelphia's most outstanding citizens and community leaders, Friday, October 13, 2000 at the National MS Society's fourth MS Dinner of Champions. Held at the Crystal Team Room, The Wanamaker Building, Philadelphia, the evening featured a video tribute to Musser and the presentation of the MS Hope Award by the Honorable Nicholas J. Maiale. KYW-TV3 EYEWITNESS NEWS ANCHOR Larry Kane served as the evening's master of ceremonies.

The MS Dinner of Champions began in New York in 1972 and is currently held in more than 75 National Ms Society chapters across the United States. The Greater Delaware Valley Chapter's 2000 Dinner was spearheaded by a wide range of civic leaders including the Honorable W. Thacher Longstreth, Philadelphia City Council; the Honorable Nicholas J. Maiale; Charles P. Pizzi, Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce; Harry Wallaesa, Safeguard Scientifics, Inc.; and Michael J. Emmi, Systems & Computer Technology Corporation; among many others.

Mr. Musser is the founder, chairman and CEO of Safeguard Scientifics, Inc.; under his leadership, Safeguard has grown to approximately $9 billion in market capitalization and 40-plus partner companies. As a highly regarded entrepreneur and CEO, Musser has paved the way to success for many entrepreneurial companies by offering them guidance, capital and support. In addition, Musser is a strong supporter, both financially and with his time and energy, in community activities, education, and the arts, through the Musser and Safeguard Foundations. The Musser Blood Center in Philadelphia, The Musser Choices Forum at the Franklin Institute, Musser Hall in Ursinus University and the Musser Center for Entrepreneurship at Lehigh University, all stand in recognition of his unparalleled support.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to ending the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis. To meet this mission, the organization supports more MS research and serves more people with MS than any national voluntary MS agency in the world. It is the only national voluntary MS agency that meets the standards of all major organizations that rate not-for-profit groups. For information about MS, please call 1-800-548-4611.
